A large stone carving, with a cuboid stone carved on the front face with a series of four armorial shields, two large with two small beneath. The upper left shield is decorated with a cross consisting of six smaller, interlaced bands. The upper right shield has a saltire. Both small shields are now undecorated. The antiquarian Harvey Brook records these as the arms of Bishop Walter Skirlaw and of the Nevilles respectively, and that they formed part of the spandrels on either side of the archway of the Close Gate of the Carmelite Friary.
