Archibald William, 13th Earl of Eglinton and Winton, was Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire from 1843 to 1861 and Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland from 1852 to 1858/1859. He was also Lord Rector of Glasgow University from 1852 to 1853.
