Inspired by the form of an aqueduct, the sculpture closely relates to the network of canals upon which the Brindley place development is centred. It is a hollow construction in two sections as if broken in the middle, one with two arches, one with three. At each end of the sections, the beginnings of a further arch is suggested, thus implying a continuation of the piece beyond the plaza. The sculpture stands on a low, stepped base filled with gravel. Its stark black forms dominate the canal side of the piazza, drawing the eye across the fountains from the main shopping area. At night it is dramatically illuminated from below by recessed lighting.
