The son of George Hardy, musician to the Royal Family, Frederick specialised in genre paintings, particularly interior scenes with children. He studied under Thomas Webster, who was a leading member of Kent’s ‘Cranbrook’ colony of artists. Hardy’s work was popular and widely collected.
