Commissioned by the donor, Richard Haydocke to celebrate the 'semi jubilee' of the Gunpowder Plot. John Percivall has been deduced from the mongram in the left hand margin of the picture. Percivall is recorded at Salisbury at this time working on pictures of Charles I, Henrietta Maria and Lord Salisbury.
