This painting reflects Green’s interest in curious forms and spaces, particularly man-made objects or structures. Her sparse composition and simple palette increase the mystery of the object lending it an unworldliness that distances it from the viewer.

Laura Green was born in 1979 and pursued Foundation Studies at Chelsea College of Art and Design between 1997 and 1998, followed by a Fine Arts degree at Birmingham and an MA at the Royal College of Art in London. She was awarded the Bazil Alkazzi Scholarship for Painting at the Royal College of Art and was shortlisted for the John Moores 23 and 24 and Celeste Art Prizes.
