A street scene at Mont St Pere. The viewer looks through an avenue of tall, pale trees casting complex shadows on the street below. The bare branches of the many trees stretch up into a bright blue sky. People walk in various directions, some stand beside a stone water fountain in the street, and others sit on benches on the pavements. Buildings line the street, and to the left, market stalls stand beneath the trees. There is a statue at the far end of the avenue, beside which, more people are standing.
