A half length bust in full uniform with the right sleeve pinned across the chest; full orders and medals, epaulettes with star. The sitter is bareheaded with his hair in a pony tail, looking slightly to the left. The work is set on a marble effect pedestal base attached by a screw thread and bolt through bottom. This is after an 1801 bust of Nelson by Franz Thaller and Mathias Ranson, of which many copies exist. An autograph version in marble is at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
