Religious panel depicting a saint believed to be Saint Luke. The saint is seated at the centre of the shaped panel against a gold background. He is dressed in yellow robes with a blue cloak, lined in red, and holds a quill in his right hand and an open book in his left. The saint is flanked by a sacred bull with wings and an angel holding a tablet inscribed in Latin 'FUIT IN DIEBUS HERODIS' (There was in the days of Herod), the first words of the gospel of Saint Luke.
This is one of a series of religious panels believed to have been located in a chapel in Chiswick House's now-demolished wings.
