Three-quarter left side portrait of Bertha Edgar, a young girl in dark dress with a lace collar and cuffs, holding a wilting rose in her hands, and turning her head to face the viewer. Her brown hair is cropped in a short style, and her dress is bright red with a sash round her midriff. The background is a similar red colour to her dress, to the right of the figure there is part of a green object, possibly a part of a table. Above this there is a small patch of green that looks like a leaf, indicating that there is a vase of flowers on the table to the right of her.
