Painter, notably of frescoes and portraits, born in London, where he eventually settled. He left Stowe School at 16 and, having misgivings about conventional art schools, studied with Pietro Annigoni in Florence. He held a first solo show at Mall Galleries in 1976, others including Belgrave Gallery in 1979 and King Street Galleries, 1982. Also exhibited in mixed shows including RA, RP, PS, RWS and UA. In 1982 won special commendation in National Portrait Gallery Portrait Award sponsored by Imperial Tobacco. Was commissioned to paint a portrait of Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Robert Runcie. Wraith’s many awards included an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award. He was elected RP in 1995. In 2000, Wraith had a successful show of oils, watercolours and drawings at Albemarle Gallery as Robbie Wraith, the catalogue introduction by HRH The Prince of Wales, another following in 2002.
