Prolific and versatile artist and teacher, born in London. She graduated with joint honours in biology and English, with a certificate of education in English and drama, from Keele University, 1973–77; studied part-time, MI Biol. ecology and behaviour, City of London Polytechnic, 1978–80; then obtained an art and design certificate, with distinction, by part-time study at Queen’s Road School of Art & Design, 1990–2. From 1978–81, Woolf taught biology and sixth-form general studies; worked for the Avon Wildlife Trust, 1981–7; then was self-employed. From 1992, Woolf obtained a series of commissions and residencies in England and Wales. Her group shows latterly included Rare, International Women’s Festival, Washington Gallery, Cardiff, 2002; Identity, Oriel Davies Open, and Drawing the Line, Orleans House Gallery, Twickenham, both 2004; and Works on Paper, Artists from South East Wales, The Gate, Cardiff, and Kingston Gate Gallery Open Show, both 2005.
