Painter and teacher who in his early childhood lived in County Down, Northern Ireland, moved to Belfast and at 15 attended evening school at Belfast School of Art. Became a schoolteacher, but retired in early 1940s to give more time to painting. He became president of Ulster Arts Club and was a member of RUA, also showing at RHA and Dublin Painters’ Gallery. Painted widely on the continent and was also known as Patrick J Woods. In 1968 he had a show at Queen’s University in Belfast.
