Margaret Winser [also known incorrectly as Margaret Windsor] was born in Rolvenden, near Tenterden, Kent, England in 1868 and studied at Dover School of Art in Dover, Kent and at the Royal College of Art in London in the 1890s and early 1900s. She was awarded a Silver Medal in the 1900 National Competition. She subsequently worked as a sculptor, medallist and as a teacher at a school of art. Between 1904 and 1929 she exhibited at the Royal Academy in London; She also exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. Among her commissions was the reverse of a medal established by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty in 1904 for good shooting; a portrait medal of the violinist Joseph Joachim in 1912; and a war memorial for Alexandra Park in Hastings, Sussex (1922).
