Artist, writer on art and teacher, born in Fleetwood, Lancashire. Studied art at Regional College of Art in Manchester, 1949–54; Slade School of Fine Art, 1954–6; Paris and Aix Universities, 1956–7; and Courtauld Institute, 1967–9. Windsor became head of the history of art department at Reading University and was the editor of a Handbook of Modern British Painting 1900–1980, 1992. British Sculptors of the Twentieth Century, also edited by him, appeared in 2003. Showed at LG, Young Contemporaries, Gimpel Fils and elsewhere. Lived in Farnham, Surrey.
