Painter and draughtsman, born in Paisley, Renfrewshire. She was a prizewinning student at Glasgow School of Art and went on to do postgraduate studies at Patrick Allan-Fraser School of Art, Hospitalfield, Arbroath. A travelling scholarship took her to Italy and Yugoslavia. Wilson won the Glasgow Society of Women Artists’ Lauder Award in 1979, the Lady Artists’ Club Trust Award the year after and in 1988 the RSA’s J Murray Thomson Award, four years after she was elected to the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. She was also a member of the RSW. As well as showing in mixed exhibitions at various locations including National Portrait Gallery, Boundary Gallery and Bath Contemporary Art Fair, Wilson’s solo shows included a major tour to Collins Gallery, Glasgow, the MacRobert Arts Centre, Stirling, and Aberdeen Artspace.
