Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in Purley, Surrey, dying in London. He attended Hornsey College of Art, 1958–62, and taught at Byam Shaw and Chelsea Schools of Art, 1964–00. Among his mixed exhibitions were 5 (Fifth Anniversary Exhibition), Polytechnic Gallery, Newcastle, 1982; Battersea Open, Battersea Arts Centre, 1984; Kapil Jariwala Gallery, from 1986; European Abstract Artists, Ars Nova Galleri, Gothenburg, Sweden, 1987; Modern Miniatures, Hepsibah Gallery, 1988; and Concourse Gallery, Byam Shaw, 1998. By 2006, Willis had 10 two- and one-man exhibitions, latterly comprising Gallery of Modern Art, Wandsworth, 1996; ACAVA Studios, Hammersmith, 2001; Memorial Exhibition, Chelsea College of Art, 2004; and Abstract Structures, The Gallery in Cork Street, 2006, organised by Kapil Jariwala, with an informative and well-illustrated catalogue.
