Painter and draughtsman, born in Cornwall, who settled in Cardiff, where in the 1970s she trained at the College of Art, gaining her master’s in fine art at the Institute of Higher Education. In 2006, her exhibition small talk, high heels was originated by the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, touring to Oriel Mostyn Gallery, Llandudno. Shortly before this, Williams had been shortlisted for the Artes Mundi 2, Wales International Visual Art Prize 2006, and the Glynn Vivian show included all the works commissioned by it and exhibited as part of the Artes Mundi show at the National Museum, Cardiff, plus others. Of her work the Glynn Vivian wrote: “At the core of her practice Williams seeks to explore her passionate and fluid responses to the complexities of subjectivity.
