Painter and sculptor, born in Münster, Germany. He studied at Winchester School of Art and Gwent College of Art and Design. In 1992 Williams’ big acrylic on canvas Black Snow was included in Norwich Gallery/Kent Institute of Art and Design’s show East & South. This drew on images from national newspapers and the artist’s own photographs. Williams was engaged on public art with Artangel Trust, ACGB and Brighton International Festival. His permanent sculpture, Kiss Wall, in Brighton “addressed sexual and racial politics through six public kisses”. Williams was artist-in-residence at the Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth, 1994–6, having a solo show there in 1996. Among activities in the city in which he was involved was the establishment of a community television station in the Somerstown area.
