Self-taught figurative artist, painting in oil, drawing in chinagraph pencil and acrylic gloss. Born in Redruth, Cornwall, he entered the family pub and restaurant business at 16 and during catering college training continued to draw and paint, as he did on his extensive travels on the continent, in Ireland, where for a short time he worked as a pearl fisherman, and in America. Group exhibitions included Peter Blake Gallery, Laguna Beach, California, 1994. Had a solo show at Hyde Park Gallery, 1992, another in 1997 at studio gallery in St Ives, Cornwall, where he had settled. His full name was David Kim Whittaker, and work was signed with a D K W monogram.
