Sculptor, born in Bath, Somerset, who studied art at Bath and Bristol Schools of Art. Exhibited RA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, in the provinces, South America and at the Paris Salon. The RA and public galleries in Liverpool, Preston, Manchester and elsewhere hold his work. He was elected a fellow of the RBS. Arts Club member whose work is held by Tate Gallery. The Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, has Whitney-Smith’s sensitive 1911 bronze The Waking Child. Lived in London.

Edwin Whitney-Smith [also known as Edwin Whitney Smith; and as Edwin Smith] was born in Bath, Somerset, England on 2 August 1880 and studied sculpture at Bath School of Art and Bristol School of Art. In c.1911 he moved to London and embarked on a career as a sculptor. He exhibited at the Grosvenor Gallery, International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers, New Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London; Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts; Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh; Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool; Manchester City Art Gallery; Royal West of England Academy in Bristol.; and at the Paris Salon His work was also shown at the Palace of Arts, British Empire Exhibition in Scotland in 1938. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (RBS) in 1915, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (FRBS) in 1938. He was also a member of the St. John's Wood Art Club. He died in London on 8 January 1952.
