Painter, born in Wakefield, Yorkshire, where he studied at the District College, then Cleveland College of Art & Design and Leeds Metropolitan University. He became painting tutor for the Open College of the Arts, Middlesbrough Art Gallery. Group shows included The Waterlily Foundation Open Exhibition, The Guildhall, Cambridge, and NEAC Open, Mall Galleries, both 1994; and 2nd Summer Open Exhibition, Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery, and Royal Over-Seas League Open, both 1995. The latter included Wheeler’s singular oil on canvas portrait of the Pomfret Sisters.
