Painter, teacher, muralist, designer and illustrator, who did a foundation course at Loughborough School of Art, 1981–2; gained a first-class honours degree in graphic design at Camberwell School of Art, 1982–5; and his master’s in illustration at the Royal College of Art in 1986–8. Vyner’s awards included the Hugh Dunn Award, best graduating student in illustration, and several travel awards, all Royal College of Art, 1988, and in 2000 the New Academy Gallery and Freshfields Awards, both at the RWS. Vyner taught widely as a visiting lecturer from 1987, from 1998 being a senior lecturer on the illustration course at Bath Spa University College, having been part-time there on the graphic design course, 1994–8. He organised many overseas study trips.
