Painter, notable for portraits which reflected his interest in bygone techniques, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He studied at the College of Art there, 1935–8, then Slade School of Fine Art, 1938–41, and after returning to Ulster took up teaching, eventually at Belfast College of Art, from 1964–90 full-time. Exhibited at RUA of which he was a member, at 55a Donegall Place in Belfast and at Belfast Museum and Art Gallery. Ulster Museum and Arts Council of Northern Ireland hold examples. Lived in Holywood, County Down.
