Portrait painter and miniaturist, born in Edinburgh where he continued to live. Studied in Edinburgh, where his teachers included James Riddel and Henry Lintott. Showed at RMS of which he was a member, RSA, RA, SSA and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
