Figurative painter whose work could allude to the Old Masters, as in his solo show at Gallery 27 in 2000. Born in Dedham, Essex, Terry gained an honours degree and diploma in architecture at Cambridge University, 1988–94, qualifying as an architect, 1996. In 1997, awards included the Winsor and Newton Young Artist Award and the RP Silver Medal. Terry showed at the RA Summer Exhibition, from 1992; NEAC and RI, both 1997; Hunting Art Prizes and BP Portrait Award, at National Gallery, both from 1998. Commissions included Michael Heseltine, politician and businessman, 1993; Thomas McMahon, Bishop of Brentwood, 1996; and Lord Alexander of Weedon, former chairman of the NatWest Group, 1998.
