Self-taught sculptor in stone, wood and bronze, who also worked as an architectural draughtsman and teacher, born in Gosport, Hampshire. Taulbut was a member of RWA. His work Seasong, in the 1st RWA Open Sculpture Exhibition, in 1993, was bought by the Porthcawl Civic Trust and is in the Grand Pavilion. Taulbut’s Madonna and Child is in the Parish Church, Llanstephan, Carmarthenshire, where he lived. Taulbut was awarded the Jack Goldhill Award for Sculpture at 1987 RA Summer Exhibition. Other mixed shows included RBA and Swindon and Southampton public galleries. Solo exhibitions included Bajazzo Gallery, Marlborough; Swansea Arts Workshop; Oriel, Cardiff; and Swindon Art Gallery. Taulbut believed in “truth to material” and aimed “to symbolise with economy the internal spirit of the subject”.
