Artist and teacher, painting in watercolour, acrylic and oil, born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. She graduated in education and training, gaining a four-year diploma in fine art from Byam Shaw School of Art. Tate taught for many years, including adult students at a day centre, housebound learners, the University of the Third Age, day patients at Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, Escape into Art lessons for business contacts, also privately. She was a prolific exhibitor in mixed shows, which latterly included Merriscourt Gallery in Sarsden, Stanley Picker Gallery in Kingston and Putney Arts Theatre, all 2003; View Gallery in Thames Ditton, Austrian Cultural Institute and National Trust: Claremont Landscape Garden, all 2004; and Art for Life at Christie’s and Celia Purcell Contemporary, both 2005.
