Painter, especially of Bristol, working in heavy, almost encrusted oil pigment. He was born in Almondsbury, near Bristol, and lived in and around the city all his life. Educated at All Saints School, Clifton, he left at 15 to help the family as his father was ill. He finally settled in engineering and worked as an inspector in Bristol Commercial Vehicles. He was self-taught and painted as a hobby, being very interested in the French Impressionists and primitive painting. Was a member of Clifton Arts Club and showed regularly with it and Clevedon Arts Club. Mixed shows included RWA and Nevill Gallery, Bath. Solo exhibitions included Cleveland Bridge Gallery, Bath, 1989–90; Anthony Hepworth Fine Art, Bath, 1993; and RWA, 1998, to which he was elected in 1999.
