Artist, born in Leeds, Yorkshire, who employed video, installation and performance in her works, in which she appeared in various guises including herself. She attended Middlesex Polytechnic, 1987–90; Slade School of Fine Art, 1990–2; and Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunst, Amsterdam, 1993–4. Among her awards were a British Institute Award for Sculpture and Duveen Travel Award, both 1991, and VSB Bank Award, Leverhulme Trust Award and Uriot Prize, all 1993. Group shows included Through View, Diorama Gallery, 1992; High Fidelity, Kohji Ogura Gallery, Nagoya, 1993; Here and Now, Serpentine Gallery, 1995; and British Art Show 4, and tour, 1995–6. She had the first of a series of solo exhibitions at Anthony Reynolds Gallery, 1992; had several on the continent in the mid-1990s; and in 1996 displayed Hypnodreamdruff at Art Now room, Tate Gallery.
