Sculptor in various materials and using colour who produced works that veered between two- and three-dimensional and that were described as “magic minimalism”. Rothschild believed that “we furnish our desires with objects and images, it’s like we need something intangible to prop up our intangible beliefs.” She was born in Dublin, Ireland, settling to work in London. She gained a fine art degree at University of Ulster, Belfast, 1990–3, and her master’s at Goldsmiths’ College, 1997–9. Awards included a Scottish Arts Council Amsterdam studio residency, 1996; a PADT/BAA Heathrow Arts Programme Belfast Lounge commission and Independent Public Arts/Stirling Council National Flags project, 1997; and a Delfina Trust, studio residency, 2000.
