Illustrator, painter and designer, born Edward Victor Reinganum in London. He studied at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art, Académie Julian in Paris and was a private student of Léger. From mid-1920s worked for over 40 years for Radio Times, other clients including Shell, London Transport, Ministry of Works and British Rail. In 1928 he was appointed art director of Elstree Studios. Two years before that, with the cartoonist Nicolas Bentley, Reinganum had formed the Pandemonium Group, which showed at Beaux Arts Gallery. His work was also shown at Mayor Gallery and in 1992–3 Oriel Gallery, Mold, held a solo exhibition of his pictures, which could be savage and powerful. Reinganum was drawn to the work of the Surrealists Yves Tanguy, Jean Arp and Max Ernst and his superbly crafted pictures have been a feature of many exhibitions associated with Surrealism.
