Sculptor, draughtsman, medallist and teacher who studied sculpture at Epsom School of Art, 1970–4, winning a Major Award in Sculpture from the British Institution Fund, 1973; in 1974–6 he did postgraduate studies at Slade School of Fine Art, then in 1976–7 was awarded a Boise Travelling Scholarship, studying in Rome and elsewhere. Rank-Broadley was assistant to Reg Butler, 1977; visited the Greek islands to study Cycladic sculpture in 1980; was visiting lecturer in life studies at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art, 1982; and was assistant to Ralph Brown, 1986. He was elected an associate of RBS in 1989 and a fellow of the Society of Numismatic Artists and Designers, 1990. Commissions included University of Surrey, 1977; British Art Medal Society, 1989; and London Library, 1990.
