Artist who studied at Winchester School of Art, from 1984 working in Scotland, producing landscape works, sculpture and furniture. Rand was concerned with the sculptural harmony of space, mass, surface and line. He exhibited widely in Europe, Scandinavia and Japan and won many public awards, mixed shows including Shadows on Stone, Sculpture at Sherborne, Sherborne Old Castle, and Gallery Artists at Stephen Lacey Gallery, both in 2000. In 2002, Stephen Lacey gave Rand a solo show, The Space Between, recent works in wood. A prominent sculpture by Rand was Original Form, 1997, carved from Douglas fir and standing at Canary Wharf.
