Painter of gestural landscapes and seascapes, printmaker, graphic designer, illustrator and teacher who shared an exhibition with James Donovan at Hutson Gallery in 2004. She studied graphic design and illustration at Bath Academy of Art, 1971–5. From 1976 she lived in Mexico City as a designer and art director, becoming head of graphic design in the Cultural Institute of the National University Mexico. Carr returned to the United Kingdom in 1984 and worked as an etcher until 1998, when she became a full-time painter. Carr said: “Having been brought up by the sea and mountains in western Canada, and later in my 20s living for many years in Mexico, I have been very influenced by what I call raw nature – where one experiences the constantly changing elements, often in their most dramatic forms….
