Sculptor, artist in film, musician and teacher, born in London, where he continued to live. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art, 1958–61, then Royal College of Art, 1961–5, under Bernard Meadows. Pye taught at Central School of Art and Design, 1965–70, at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, 1970–5, the following year being visiting professor at California State University. As well as taking part in group shows in Britain and abroad Pye had his first solo show at Redfern Gallery in 1966, the first of several, other notable shows being at Great Hall and City Museum, Winchester, 1979, and University College, Aberystwyth, 1980. New work was shown at the New Art Centre Sculpture Park & Gallery, East Winterslow, in 2004. His commissions included King’s Cross House, Pentonville Road, in London, 1974, and Eastgate Mall, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1978.
