Marine artist, born in London, who after an early career in the Merchant Navy trained at Brangwyn’s School of Art. From the early 1900s he handled illustrative work and watercolour, later specialising mainly in oils. Pitcher was a founder-member of the RSMA, showing there and at RA, RBA, RWA and ROI. He served in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in both World Wars and continued painting until he died, having settled in Rye, Sussex.
