Sculptor and teacher, born in London, who studied at Hornsey College of Art, 1956–60. After a period working with the sculptor Gaudia in Montreal, Canada, Piché was at Royal College of Art, 1960–4. During this time he gained the Walter Neurath Prize, worked as an assistant to Henry Moore and showed with Young Contemporaries in 1963. From 1964 Piché taught sculpture at Maidstone College of Art. After a Peter Stuyvesant Foundation Travel Bursary in 1965 the artist had a one-man show at Marlborough New London Gallery in 1967, the year following gaining a commission prize in the Moorgate Sculpture Competition. Among other important showings were Silver Jubilee Contemporary British Sculpture Exhibition in Battersea Park, in 1977. Piché created sculpture from a variety of materials, his work having both organic and geometric forms.
