Alfred Bertram Pegram (1873–1941)
Alfred Bertram Pegram [also known as A. Bertram Pegram] was born in St. Pancras, London, England, on 17 January 1873 and from c.1895 to 1899 studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London where he won a number of prizes. He subsequently worked as a sculptor and medallist. From 1895 to 1939 he was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy in London. He also exhibited at the International Society of Sculptors, Painters & Gravers, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Society of British Sculptors and Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London; Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool; Royal West of England Academy in Bristol; Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts; Leeds Art Gallery, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts; the South Wales Art Society.
Pegram occasionally collaborated on commissions with the Bromsgrove Guild. In 1914 he married the sculptor Mary Constance Buzzard (1876-1953). Throughout his career as an artist, Pegram lived in London He died in London on 14 January 1941. His address at the time of his death was 10 Primrose Gardens, Belsize Park, Middlesex.
