Painter in oil, born in London, who was married to the artist Rose Wylie. He attended Bromley College of Art, 1950–5, and David Bomberg’s Borough Polytechnic classes, 1950–3. He took part in Borough Bottega Group shows at Heffer Gallery, Cambridge, 1954, and Walker’s Galleries, 1955. Oxlade’s mixed show appearances also included Young Contemporaries, 1952–4; Winnipeg Biennale, first prize for drawing, 1960; John Moores Liverpool Exhibitions, 1964 and 1991; LG, 1965–8; RA Summer Exhibition, from 1984; and Jan Turner Gallery, Los Angeles, 1988. Had a period in Canada, with a solo show at Vancouver Art Gallery, 1963, later ones including Odette Gilbert Gallery, 1985–7–8, and Art Space Gallery, 2001, 2003 and 2004. Lived in Newnham, Sittingbourne, Kent.
