Figurative artist and teacher, born in Cilfynydd, Glamorgan. He attended Mid Glamorgan School of Art, 1993–4, then graduated with honours in fine art from University of the West of England, Bristol, 1994–7, after which he was based in Llanishen, Cardiff, as a professional artist, teaching variously in Wales. Among awards were first prize, 1998 Rhondda-Cynon-Taff Open, and second prize, 2000 Tabernacl Open, Museum of Modern Art, Wales. Oliver carried out the Tynewydd Disaster and Rescue mural for The Price of Coal exhibition, Rhondda Heritage Center, 1998. Mixed shows included Lantrisant Festival of Art, from 1990; Circle Gallery, Pontypridd, 1993; Anthony Hepworth Fine Art, Bath, from 1997; Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, 1998; Rugby World Cup ’99, Trials and Tribulations, St David’s Hall, Cardiff, 1999; and Spring Summer Show, Attic Gallery, Swansea, 2000.
