Painter, born in Jersey in the Channel Islands. He began painting when ill and went on to study at Exeter School of Art, continuing with postgraduate studies in Liverpool. While a student he showed at RBA and at Redfern Gallery, further mixed show appearances including New Art Centre, with LG; Hamet Gallery; and City Art Gallery, Salford. Between 1955–63 Oliver had five solo shows at Redfern, one of Keele University in 1964, another at Mercury Gallery, 1965. In 1992 an exhibition of his earlier work was given at Anthony Hepworth Fine Art, Bath, with a retrospective in 1994. His work is held by notable British collections, including Tate Gallery, Courtauld Institute and Manchester City Art Gallery.
