Self-taught artist and designer, teacher, born in Douglas, Isle of Man. He ran his own art gallery and was on the staff of Douglas School of Art. Designed a number of Manx stamps and banknotes. Nicholson was president of the Isle of Man Art Society, and was made a member of BWS in 1939, UA in 1947, a fellow of the Institute of British Decorators and Interior Designers in 1948, RI in 1951 and PS in 1975. Manx Museum and Art Gallery and public galleries in Blackpool and Wolverhampton hold examples. Lived latterly in Port Erin, Isle of Man.
