Abstract artist, born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, who gained an honours degree in printmaking at Newcastle University, 1984–8, then a master’s degree with distinction at Royal College of Art, 1991–3, where Richard Wentworth was an “absolute inspiration”. He understood “where my ideas came from – that we have an openness to look at everything.” Forms such as the dovetail, lozenge and wedge were important to Neasham, as in her solo show at Francis Graham-Dixon Gallery, 1994. By then she had appeared in mixed exhibitions, including Fourth Oriel Mostyn Open, Llandudno, 1992, and Bradford Open Print exhibition, Cartwright Hall, 1993, and had won a series of awards, including John Christie, Northern Arts, Abraham & Lillian Rosenberg Foundation and Augustus Martin Award.
