Painter of figure, rural and Biblical subjects, born in Walton on the Hill, Surrey. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, 1909–12, where he met such artists as Wadsworth, Nevinson and Stanley Spencer, who influenced his work, then attended government art classes at Reading, 1912–13. Nash married Mabel Emery, 1914; shared a house with Gilbert Spencer; married Frances Gurr in 1929 and moved to Ackworth School as Art Master in 1930. Showed with NEAC, RA, Goupil Gallery and especially Redfern Gallery, his pictures being bought by discerning collectors such as Sir Michael Sadler and Thomas Balston. In 1979–80, there was an exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery at Reading, Nash having spent periods in or near the Berkshire town. Lenders included British Museum, Russell-Cotes Art Gallery in Bournemouth, Harrogate Art Gallery, Whitworth and City Art Galleries in Manchester, Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle and Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
