Artist in oil and stone, born in Oxford, settling in the county at Horton-cum-Studley. “All my painting and sculpture is on Biblical themes or themes from Christian iconography.” Mynheer graduated with honours from Hornsey College of Art, 1976–80, then spent a few years in advertising before turning full-time to art. He was a member of Oxford Art Society, group shows including Museum of Modern Art in Oxford, 1992; Bath, Manchester and Isle of Man Contemporary Art Fairs, all 1993; and Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair from 1995. Solo exhibitions included Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, 1992; Marsden Fine Art from 1993; and Ca’si Gallery, Richmond, Virginia, 1995. St John’s College, Oxford, holds his work. Two public commissions were important: 14 Stations of the Cross, St Matthew’s Church, Birmingham; and Triptych, The Assumption, Church of the Assumption, Beckley, Oxford.
