Artist and teacher, born in Edinburgh where he attended the College of Art, 1966–70. In 1970–1 he had a postgraduate year, a 1971 Andrew Grant Travelling Scholarship taking him to Greece, Turkey and Spain. Mooney went on to teach at Edinburgh College of Art. Mooney’s prints and paintings from the mid-1960s appeared in such exhibitions as Printmakers’ Workshop, Scottish Young Contemporaries and the Pernod Competition, all in Edinburgh, and he was represented in A Choice Selection at Fruit Market Gallery in the city in 1975. Had a first solo show at New 57 Gallery in Edinburgh in 1973.
