Restorer and painter. After a period in Intelligence in World War II in Egypt, working for War Office, Meade in 1946 joined Ministry of Works as an artist restorer. Among ceilings restored were the Thornhill in the Painted Hall at Royal Naval College, Greenwich, and in 1960, working by himself, the Queen’s Audience Chamber at Windsor. In his spare time Meade continued to produce watercolours, oils and pastels, landscape and figurative, and a first show of these was held by Moss Galleries in 1991. In 1967 Meade was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
