Belfast-based painter whose exhibition Horizons there, at Tom Caldwell Gallery in 2006, comprised abstracted Irish landscapes. McEwen was born in 1966 in Enniskillen, Fermanagh, began painting in 1986 and was a graduate of Belfast Art College. After returning from travels in eastern and central Europe in 1997, he instigated an artist-in-residence scheme at the Corrymeela Centre in Ballycastle. McEwen showed widely in the United Kingdom and Germany and had work in the Office of Public Works collection.
