Painter, born and based in London, although her parents were Italian and she spent her early childhood in Italy. From 1957–63 attended Goldsmiths’ College and Slade School of Fine Art under Kenneth Martin, a notable teacher, and Mary Martin. Masoero said that she regarded herself “as an abstract painter first and foremost”. A series of tiny portraits or head paintings, while being an important aspect of her work had “grown out of my abstract painting quite naturally”. Painters of light were a significant influence, notably “the early Italians and Giotto, Zurbaran and Goya”. Group shows included Young Contemporaries, 1964; British Painting ’74, Arts Council at Hayward Gallery, 1974; Portraits & Paintings at Warehouse Gallery, 1978; and Critics’ Choice – New British Art, Christie’s, 1993.
